Easter Vigil Year B

Easter Vigil Year B

Mark 16: 1-8

Mark's narrative has dwelt on the failures of those closest to Jesus throughout the story, including his arrest and execution. It continues after the resurrection. Some of the women in the inner circle of Jesus' followers go to anoint the corpse. When they arrive at the tomb, they are privileged with the announcement from a "young man dressed in a white robe" that Jesus of Nazareth who they know was crucified "is not here." "He has been raised." They are instructed to tell Peter and the others. But they are frozen with fear and told no one initially. Finally they told some "around" Peter and the news trickles to him. Without going into details, Mark simply says then "Jesus himself" set out the proclamation.
